Welcome to Geoff’s blog for his epic journey of riding the Tour Aotearoa.
Tour Aotearoa is one of the world’s great bikepacking trips: stretching 3,000km from Cape Reinga to Bluff, it follows a combination of cycle trails, tracks, paths and lanes connected by the most enjoyable country roads available.
The Tour Aotearoa route was designed by Jonathan Kennett, a New Zealand cycling guidebook writer. In February 2016 he organised a Brevet event designed to highlight the best New Zealand Cycle Trail Great Rides, Heartland Rides, and quiet back country roads. He has organised the event again in February 2018.
Well after about 8 months of planning including buying the bike, deciding on all the accessories, lots and lots of training rides, endless discussions and decisions on what to take and what not to take, we are into count down phase – only 6 days till the start!!!
Today’s job was putting on new tyres.
